Lost on the steamship Cheviot Range.

Victor Maunder was born at Hartlepool on September 19th, 1897, and baptised at St. Paul's on September 25th. His father, George (born in Sidmouth, Devon circa 1849), was a Gardener; his mother, Margaret Maunder (nee Lamb), was born in Shildon, Co. Durham, circa 1858. They were married at Holy Trinity Church, Seaton Carew, on May 15th, 1876, and their address is given as No.33, Archer Street, Stranton.

The 1901 Census shows George as Park Superintendant, living at Park Lodge, Elwick Road, West Hartlepool, with Margaret and nine children: Ernest (aged 18, Domestic Footman), Catherine A. (15), Albert (14), Maggie (12), George (10), Lilian (8), Arthur (7), Mary (5), and Victor (3).
