In convoy TAG-19 on a voyage from Rio de Janeiro for Trinidad & New York with a cargo of iron-ore & a total complement of 48 Lindenhall was torpedoed by German submarine U-508 (Georg Staats) & broke in two & sank 40 miles north of Margarita Island, Venezuela on 7 November 1942. Survivors were picked up by USS Surprise. 4 gunners, the master & 37 of the crew were lost.
