Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail, Thursday, January 23rd, 1890:
THE STRANDING OF THE KAROON. JUDGEMENT. Judgment was given in the Board of Trade enquiry at Middlesbrough, this afternoon, respecting the stranding of the steamer Karoon, of West Hartlepool, on the 9th December, on the coast Holland. The Court found the master in default in having neglected to take soundings, but owing to his good character they did not suspend his certificate, but warned him to be more careful.
