Headstone for William Tate, Parish Clerk, who wrote the little book 'A Description of Hartlepool, Seaton and Stranton' in 1812 with a reprint in 1816. The inscription on the stone reads 'Led a full and useful life.'
In 2007, when this photo was taken, the stone was in poor condition.

The central part of All Saints' Parish Church, Stranton was built in the 12th century and the tower in the 14th century. The clock was added in 1865.
Villagers of Seaton Carew were interred here prior to Holy Trinity Churchyard's Consecration.
