A view from the side of The Good Intent which is interesting as it was extremely close to the new Marks and Spencer store which, because of the light and curtains, was obviously occupied. Presumably at this point it did not have a back entrance and a car park is now where the pub stands. The Good Intent will have been one of the last buildings to be demolished in this part of Stockton Street

Good Intent was built in 1852 in Stockton Street and when it closed in 1970, was one of the last remaining buildings in the street which had been demolished to make way for the shopping centre and Further Education College.
