Fate

On a voyage from Shields to Riga with a cargo of coal Cuba experienced heavy gales, ran ashore & was wrecked at Christiana near Copenhagen on 3 October 1867. The crew were saved. Cuba was insured in local clubs. Master - Brockelsby.

Shields Daily News, Monday, October 7th, 1867:
LOSS OF A HARTLEPOOL BARQUE. A telegram has been received at Hartlepool, announcing the wreck of the barque Cuba at Christino near Copenhagen. This vessel is the property of Mr. R. Huntley, Hartlepool, and she left Shields about ten days ago for Riga, coal laden. She experienced heavy gales and ran ashore. The crew were rescued, and the vessel is likely to become a total wreck.
