Two former German prisoners of war, Hans and Bernard (far left and far right), regularly returned to Hartlepool in later years to visit the farms they worked on - Middle Warren Farm and Storey's Farm - and particularly to see Bobby Storey with whom they were good friends. This photograph, with George Ogle Junior (back), Peggy Ogle (blue dress), and either Hans or Bernard's wife, was taken in August 1987. Both Hans and Bernard made a number of toys for George's daughter Annette, but unfortunately none have survived.

Mid-1970s. George Ogle Junior (seated right) and his nephew David enjoy a cup of tea on the back of the tractor, presumably brought out to them by Peggy Ogle. The milk churns were filled with water to dilute liquid feed for use on the fields.

In the yard at Hart Warren Farm. Tweed, the collie-cross, and Donald the duck were unlikely best friends. In the background is the farm's Fordson Major tractor. In the 1960s John Fraser had his arm broken trying to start this tractor when the starting handle kicked back. 

Although it may not look like it in this photograph, Tweed the collie-cross, and Donald the duck, were in fact the best of friends.
