Enjoying a game of dominoes. At least three of these men belonged to the crew of the Seaton Carew lifeboat Francis Whitbourn. This photographic postcard would date from c1910.

Charles was born to George & Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Hodgson in 1891.

He married Laura A Lawson in 1912 & they had three children; Harold, Charles & Doris (Doris worked at Buckingham Palace for George V.)

Laura was a good clog dancer.

They left Seaton Carew & moved to Leith, Scotland.

George Thomas Hodgson was born a twin in 1923 to Thomas & Ida. He married Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Bulford) & they had two children. He served with the 18th Battalion Durham Home Guard for over five years until the Home Guard disbanded. Although exempt from serving due to his trade he was placed on the reserves list for the Royal Navy. George was an apprentice at Gray's Shipyard & went on to work at the steelworks. He died aged 89 in 2013.

George was born in 1866 to Robert & Mary (nee Corner) Hodgson who lived at Knowles Yard in Seaton Carew. He was one of ten children. In 1888 he married Elizabeth Johnston & they lived at 4 Charles Street in Seaton Carew with their ten children. George spent his working life as a labourer but also served as a volunteer on the Seaton Carew lifeboats  John Lawson & Francis Whitbourn.

He died in 1929 & is buried in Holy Trinity Churchyard.

The crew of the Seaton Carew Lifeboat Francis Whitbourn gathered at the Lifeboat House in 1908. The Station closed in 1922.

This photo was probably taken on the day of the naming of the John Lawson in 1888. Along the front row the first man proudly sporting medals is John Henry Franklin then Henry Hood and next to him is Matthew Franklin. The medals were received for their services to the Atlas in 1883. Second from the end of the row, wearing a cork life jacket, is George Hodgson.

He was born to George & Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Hodgson in 1892. He married Ida Atkinson in 1915 & lived at 7 Stanmore Grove in Seaton Carew. They had seven children; John WD  1916-1920; Jane AE 1918-2002; Leslie 1919-1010; George Thomas 1923-2013; John Alfred 1923-1964; Kenneth 1928-1984; Robert C 1930

Died at Seaton Carew bus station in 1944.
