This school opened in 1961 and closed in 1973 when the building became part of Brierton Comprehensive. The building was demolished in 2012.
Brierton Hill Technical High School for Girls opened in September 1961 and this shows it under construction around 1960. The builders were local company Yuill's.
Most of the school buildings have now been demolished.

The wooden building on the right was part of Rossmere School.

the rough land at the front of the photo was a cut through (old tip) to Rossmere Way, now a walkway through to Rossmere Way.

More detail »In the main dining room at Carlton, the girls are obviously studying some sort of rocks or leaves ? There appear to also be boys on the image? It is customary for two schools to share the accommodation at Carlton so this could be the reason.
More detail »Taken in the late 1960s, the school collected food items to be taken out around the area to old people. Girls are currently unknown, but the parcels indicate pre 'tea bag' days as there are packets of Typhoo and Brooke Bond tea evident !
