The infant school opened in 1957 although a temporary block had been opened in Summer 1957 to accomodate infant age children on the quickly growing Owton Manor Estate. By October 1957 the new infant depatment opened and junior aged children moved into the temporary block. The new junior department officially opened in January 1959.

The schools could accomodate 240 infant children and 320 junior with an extra classroom for 'retarded' children.

Miss Noble was appointed the first infant head and Mr Conkerton head of the junior department.

It became Eskdale Academy in September 2014.
