The Market Hotel Public House situated in Lynn Street Hartlepool was opened in 1857. Since the early 1990s, the premises have had a chequered time, having been New Market in 1991, then closed, then an Indian restaurant and currently closed again. It is the only remaining building of the old Lynn Street apart from the Church Street corner.

The Market Hotel circa 1900
Donated by Mrs Conway Middlesbrough 1985Taken between 1896 and 1912 when the hotel was owned by J Henderson and the name is clearly seen. The pub had been opened in Lynn Street in 1857 and although in a state of disrepair is there today.
