Durham Street, Hartlepool- On the 1st April 1967, Hartlepool and West Hartlepool amalgamated. The properties in Brougham Street were re-numbered and the properties then became part of Durham Street, Hartlepool.

Brougham Street, Hartlepool, was re-named Durham Street after the amalgamation of Hartlepool and West Hartlepool in 1967.

Although the train and hoardings are no longer there, cranes in the dockland area are still seen today. Many will remember the 'happiness is egg shaped' slogan on the advert behind the lamp post. The new Primitive Methodist Chapel is on the right. The foundation stone was laid for the chapel in spring 1851 on a plot of ground opposite to Roman Catholic St Mary's Church. Brougham Street changed to Durham Street in 1980s.
