Crimdon Beauty Contest

Donated by Hartlepool Museum ServiceFor many years, the annual Miss Crimdon competition was held in Crimdon Dene and it drew huge crowds particularly from County Durham's pit villages.
The girls in this contest from 1953 or 4 have sashes showing which village they are representing. Wingate, South Hetton, Blackhall, Horden, Easington and Thornley are amongst those visible.

Tough Times During the Depression
