WEST HARTLEPOOL STEAMER ASHORE. A Lloyd's telegram reports that the British steamer Stanhope, with a cargo of timber, is ashore at Riga. The vessel lies in a critical position, with afterhold and engine-room full of water, the sea sweeping completely over her. The crew were saved. The Stanhope is an iron screw steamer of 1,367 tons gross, built at West Hartlepool in 1882, and owned by Messrs. English and Co., of that port.
