Fate

The British steamship Vauxhall was torpedoed and sunk by U-69 (Ernst Wilhelms) off the coast of Ireland, on April 25th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from Sfax, Tunisia, to Dublin with a cargo of phosphates. Two lives were lost: John Byrnes, fireman, 32, Harrington, Cumberland; Edwin Dyer,  donkeyman, 47, Newport, Mon.
