The Aubretia-class Convoy Sloop HMS Tulip was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-62, south-west of Ireland, on April 30th, 1917. The ship was serving as a Decoy, or "Q-ship". At least nine of her crew were lost, including Ernest Peacock, of West Hartlepool.
