MV Kathe Ahrens

What we know about this image :

German flag vessel “Kathe Ahrens” was the mainstay of the weekly service in the 60s and 70s and is shown with timber discharged during her visit on 12th March, 1973 on “A” Jetty, Union Dock.

. The Mail photographer has also captured the stem of the “Highland” loading a bulk cargo from “B” Jetty possibly coal, whilst in the back ground can be seen the m.v. “Wilhelm Koerts”, she was chartered to carry the over bookings of cargo for the “Kathe Ahrens”, that featured the trade at this time which was boosted by the policies of the Heath/Chancellor Barber Government.
