Large Farm which was close to where West Hartlepool Rugby Club now stands. The site of the actual buildings is now under part of the Family Wood.
For many years Catcote Farm had stood in what became Catcote Road. However, in the early 1960s it became disused and a target for vandals. In 1966 demolition began and a sports' pavilion for the Girls' High School was built. This later became part of Brinkburn Comprehensive and then West Hartlepool Rugby Club.
More detail »Tom McAndrew, a well known local artist, painted this view of Catcote Farm looking towards the east. He would have been standing where Catcote Road is now near the road up to Summerhill and looking towards the sea.
The farm was where part of the Family Wood is now, in between the path from Elwick Road to Catcote Road and the older of the West Rugby Club buildings.
Tom's son Russell donated the slide of the painting to hhtandn.
