Lost when the steamship Romford sank in the Mediterranean after striking a mine, on February 10th, 1918.
 
Henry Snowdon was born 1890 and Christened on April 23rd, 1890, at Holy Trinity Church Hartlepool. He was the son of Henry Snowdon, an Elementary Schoolteacher, and Francis (Fanny) Snowdon (nee Cookson), who was born in Tarporley, Devon. 

Henry had a brother and two sisters. His brother John Cookson Snowdon, a student teacher, joined the Durham Light Infantry. After he was wounded by shrapnel it was discovered that he had a heart defect was discharged from the Army. He died in 1922. 

In 1911 Henry was living at 56, Montague Street with his widowed mother and two siblings.
