This school opened in 1862 and in 1906 the building was condemned although was used as aRoman Catholic School between 1910-1914.
This school opened in 1755 in Friendship Lane. In 1871 a new school was built on the corner of Brougham (now Durham ) St and Moor St. It was demolished in 1963.
Formerly a Wesleyan School, Avenue Road was aquired and run by West Hartlepool Education Authority in 1904. It was a fee paying school and appears to have closed in 1940 when occupied by the military and children placed in other schools.
This school opened in 1903 and closed in 1968 when children were transferred to St Helen's Junior School
The infants' school was opened by Durham LEA in 1964 in the premises which later became the Junior School
This school opened in 1961 and closed as a technical high in 1973 when it became upper school of Brierton Comprehensive. The building was demolished in 2012.
Brierton School opened to children in 1957 but official openings were later. In 1973 it became the lower school of Brierton Comprehensive. It closed in Summer 2009 when children were absorbed into other schools.
The original school opened in 1896 and in 1985 children were transferred to the new Brougham Primary School nearby.
Opened in 1966 to replace Claremont School, Southbrooke(now Catcote Enterprise College) is a school for children who have a range of learning difficulties.
This school opened in 1857 and closed in 1938 when children were transferred to Exchange School. The building became the College of Art.
Opened in 1933, children with learning difficulties were moved from the old cookery school premises at Ward Jackson School. The school was replaced by Southbrooke School in Catcote Road in 1966.
This school officially opened in 1946 and became Dyke House Comprehensive School in 1973. In 2011, the school was extensively remodelled and children were taken to the disused Brierton School during this time.
Hartlepool Education Offices opened in 1894 and in 1974, education in the town was the responsibility of the new Cleveland Authority in Middlesbrough. The offices were demolished in 1984.
Eldon Grove Primary opened in 1989 built on site of High School for Girls and replacing Lister Street School
Elwick St Peter's School was built in 1850 and in September 1959, pupils were moved to the new and current school in North Lane.
This school opened in 1878. In 1934 it closed. However from 1943 to 1957 it was used by St Joseph's RC Primary as to replace the premises in Whitby St which had been destroyed by enemy action in 1940.
Graythorp School was opened in 1926 to serve Graythorp village and has a fascinating history. It closed in 1957 and children were admitted to High Clarence and Haverton Hill schools.
The school was on the corner of Hart Lane and Mildred Street opposite the cemetery wall. It was closed as Sacred Heart opened nearby in 1934. It was a 'temporary' school for over 33 years.
A school was first built in 1838 in Front Street and in 1953 moved to a new building close to the current school in Magdalene Drive which opened in 1981
The Art College opened in 1874 in the Atheneum moving in 1897 to Lauder Street Technical College. In 1938 it moved into vacated Church Square School and the building was destroyed by fire in 1966 It was rebuilt and opened on the same site in 1968.
This college officially opened in April, 1969 although some of the buildings had been in use beforehand. The College was rebuilt and opened on the same site in 2012.
Henry Smith Grammar School opened in 1889 and became part of Henry Smith's Comprehensive in 1973.However, the old Headland site closed in 1977 and the building was demolished in 1982.
The school was opened in 1973 and originally children were transferred from Brierton Hill Girls'Tech and Lauder St Boys' Tech.
This school opened in 1958 Originally as West View Secondary Modern. In 1973, together with the vacated St Peter's RC Secondary School nearby and Henry Smith's Grammar School ,it became Henry Smith's Comprehensive.

The school opened around 1911. The headteacher was appointed in October 1911 and the first Governors' meeting was held on 9th May 1912. It closed in 1938 when children were transferred to Graythorp School.
