George Henry Hardy died of illness while serving aboard the destroyer HMS Vendetta.He was born in West Hartlepool on 2nd August 1893, the son of Tom Hardy, a native of Pickering and his wife Jane Elizabeth nee White. His parents were married in 1890 in Helmsley and came to Hartlepool shortly afterwards where Tom was a brewery cartman. They lived at 12 Gainford St on the 1891,1901 and 1911 census.
George was one of 5 children of the marriage and all of them lived.
