More detail »Over 1000 people crowded into Grange Road in July 1954 to see Scotland Rugby Captain William Irving Douglas Elliott leaving the St Paul's Church with his new bride Miss Eileen Peart of Stanhope Avenue.
Notice that the trolley bus lines had been removed but the poles remained as at the time they also held street lighting.
W.I.D.(Dougie) Elliott, was a member of Edinburgh Academicals club and played for Scotland on 29 occasions in addition to appearing for the Barbarians. His brother in law Tony Peart (T.G. A. H. Peart) also played International Rugby for England and had over 40 caps for Durham County. He had followed his brother John Peart (J.H. Peart) iino the County XV, John played on 8 occasions for the Durham side.

Amongst the subjects are perhaps William and Augusta Forslind and children Karin and Erik and it could be that Charles Forslind and family are also on the picture. It was taken by Braybrook of Church Square Hartlepool in late Victorian times.

More detail »George Thomas Hodgson was born a twin in 1923 to Thomas & Ida. He married Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Bulford) & they had two children. He served with the 18th Battalion Durham Home Guard for over five years until the Home Guard disbanded. Although exempt from serving due to his trade he was placed on the reserves list for the Royal Navy. George was an apprentice at Gray's Shipyard & went on to work at the steelworks. He died aged 89 in 2013.

More detail »Taken in 1943 in the old Salvation Army Hall in Stockton Street is the wedding of Connie Fothergill. The Salvation Army flag is always clearly displayed at a wedding to symbolise that marriage is a spiritual commitment.

Georgina Pike worked as Head Clerk at Binn's Department Store; Robina Brownlee was a nurse at Cameron's Hospital; Richard Fawcett was a coffin-maker for Simpson's and lived in Hart Road (old Hartlepool). His house was one of those damaged during the German Bombardment in 1914.
