In 1914 Sally Maersk was detained at Constantinople. On 27 September 1915 she was shelled by Russian warships at Erelgi & later salved.

Bound from Izmar for Turkish Black Sea ports with a cargo of salt Kizilirmak was wrecked 6 miles west of Sinop light vessel on 22 December 1939.
