Hermon was the sixth ship built by Withy's for George Horsley, taking just 151 days and costing £17,000. She was launched by Mrs. Mathew Horsley, the owner's daughter-in-law, on December 13th, 1883, and delivered on February 14th, 1884.
Bound from Gefle for Honfleur with a cargo of boards & deals Hermon was totally wrecked during bad weather when passing the mouth of the Seine in charge of a pilot on 13 December 1886. No lives lost.
