				The following appeared in the Northern Daily Mail on October 10th, 1919:
"Yesterday Messrs. William Gray and Co. Ltd., launched the steel screw steamer Gondia, for the British India Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., London. Her dimensions are: Length over all 413ft, breadth extreme 52ft 3ins, depth moulded 31ft; and deadweight capacity over 8,000 tons.
Triple-expansion engines are being supplied by the Central Marine Engine Works of the builders, having cylinders 27ins, 44ins, and 73ins, by 48ins stroke, and three boilers 15ft 6ins diameter by 11ft 6ins long, 180lbs working pressure with Howden's forced draught. The 'CMEW' steamship auxiliaries include a pair of boiler feed pumps, harbour feed pump, sanitary pump, ash ejector pump, feed heater and evaporator.
The vessel and machinery have been constructed under the superintendence of Capt. W.M. Isdale and Mr. Jon. L. Leslie on behalf of the owners."
