The following appeared in the Northern Daily Mail on September 6th, 1919:
"The trial trip took place yesterday of the steel screw steamer Homayun, built by Messrs. William Gray and Co. (1918) Ltd., West Hartlepool, for Messrs. Turner and Co., London.
The vessel is 375ft in length and carries 7,000 tons deadweight, and is specially fitted out for the East Indian trade.
Triple-expansion engines have been supplied by the Central Marine Engine Works of the builders, having cylinders 27ins, 44ins, 73ins, by 48ins stroke, and three boilers, 15ft 6ins diameter by 11ft 6ins long, of 180lbs working pressure and fitted with Howden's forced draught.
The 'CMEW' steamship auxiliaries fitted include a pair of independent boiler feed pumps, harbour feed pump, ballast pump, feed heater and evaporator.
The performance of the ship and machinery was entirely satisfactory."
