On or about 27 January 1883 John William Wigham, aged 17, was lost overboard.
Bound from Eyemouth for Hartlepool with a cargo of herrings in August 1883 Wensleydale was noticed to be sailing erratically a short distance from the shore. She was boarded by a pilot & others when it was found the master & mate were lying unconscious & bleeding. The schooner was towed in to Berwick to wait for the salvage claim to be satisfied. It was determined that the master & mate had been drunk & were fighting. Wensleydale went for breaking in September 1883.
