Fred MARSDEN, born c1882 in Barnard Castle. The Postman and Company, Fred on his rounds with his assistant. The little boy playing the mouth organ lived on Fred's delivery round and looked forward to seeing him every day, dated c June 1932.

These images are from two albums which are part of a unique record of young men and women who were members of the Oxford Road Baptist Church, West Hartlepool and enlisted in the First World War. Some of the photos and postcards note; Name, Rank, Service No., Regiment and the dates letters and parcels were sent to them. The originator of this collection was a Mr. Fred Marsden a member of the Church and also a Postman. 'Fred's little book' as it is referred to contains 177 separate entries.
