Ernest MARSDEN (centre) Fred's older brother, born 16 Jan 1879 in Middleham, Yorks. Attested 18 Aug 1915 at Calgary, Canada, Occ: Clerk, Ser. No. 540078 possibly a Gunner, Artillery Regt. Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force at Chisledon Camp, UK. ‘THE THREE NUTS’. The message on the card reads: ‘With best wishes from all three’.

These images are from two albums which are part of a unique record of young men and women who were members of the Oxford Road Baptist Church, West Hartlepool and enlisted in the First World War. Some of the photos and postcards note; Name, Rank, Service No., Regiment and the dates letters and parcels were sent to them. The originator of this collection was a Mr. Fred Marsden a member of the Church and also a Postman. 'Fred's little book' as it is referred to contains 177 separate entries.
