In September 2017, a tree sculpture was unveiled in the Burn Valley. It was executed by Tom Craggs from Consett and depicts Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. The sculpture reflects the long gone Peter Pan pond and statue and the 'fairy steps' which were nearby.
The project was funded by Tesco Bags of Help Scheme, the money raised by carrier bag sales.
