In 1947, these prefabs were hastily built in Kendal Road and the surrounding area after World War 2. It was reported in Hartlepool Mail that everything in the homes, called the Sheepshank Estate, was electric, a boiler, the oven and a refridgerator.The last item was very modern at the time !

Road which runs north to south from Sydenham Road to Windermere Road and parallel with Belle Vue Way.
It is of mixed housing, some from around 1900, some the 1930s. Following World War 2 an estate of prefabricated houses originally called the Sheepshank Estate was built in the area.
