For several years post war, Rovers used the Greyhound Stadium in Clarence Road for the Oakes matches to mark the end of the season. The end of season 48/49 saw the club able to officially open their “New Friarage” ground with a game against Bob Oakes International XV on Saturday, 30th April 1949. So 2019 will mark the 70th Anniversary of the West View Road site for Rovers.
