School opening in 1960 . On the left is Alderman Hogg. The mayor was Mr Coxon and to the right is MP for the Hartlepools Commander Kerans RN who opened the school.
The Mail reported that Grange was the first of its kind in England and that to children who began their education at Newburn or Ward Jackson it was 'paradise'.
