Once a private home, Ambleside became the senior department of Rosebank School and home of the principal Mr Gallimore. Part of the garden wall between the two properties was demolished and a roofed pathway between the two schools called 'the tunnel ' was built.

Location
Large house in Elwick Road overlooking the Burn Valley Gardens possibly built around 1900. From 1900 to 1934 trade directories give it as the home of William Ropner who was son of noteable shipowner Sir Robert Ropner. It later became the home of GPK Gallimore and part of Rosebank School when he was principal.
It is now divided into apartments.
