Ellis on Cromer Beach

What we know about this image :

Two schooners on Cromer Beach c1870. In the foreground is the Commerce, 61 tons, built Stockton-on-Tees 1846. Behind is the Ellis, 54 tons, built Hartlepool 1858. Both vessels appear to be stranded.

There are at least six horses just visible in the image & people aboard the vessels. The horses are probably being used to discharge the cargo of coal.

The Ellis traded between Hartlepool & Cromer on a regular basis, mainly with coal.
