The 'Warrior'-class Armoured Cruiser HMS Natal was destroyed by a series of explosions while lying at anchor in the Cromarty Firth, on December 30th, 1915. Around four hundered people were lost, including a number of women and children who were on baord attending a party held by the Captain. Included in those lost were six men from the Hartlepools: William Bradley, Archibald R. Caskie, Frederick James Clark, Martin Kelly, Richard McAndrews, and John McLoughlin.
