On the first day of the 1998 summer holiday, a massive fire completely destroyed the Junior classrooms and hall and they had to be demolished. The new building in Owton Manor Lane is built onto the 1960 Infants' School which survived the fire.

Situated in Wynyard Road is the large Owton Manor Social Club built in the early 1960s and still open today. To the right is Owton Manor Community Centre built in 1963.

This picture was taken at the cut through to Manor School playing field where Maxwell Road and Mowbray Road meet, directly outside of no.67 Maxwell Road, which is the property seen closest to the photographer. The houses that are the focus of the picture show the top of Moffatt Road.

This image is of the lower part of Owton Manor Lane looking towards what would eventually become Catcote Road. It was when building of that part of Owton.Manor Estate had begun but the road was yet to be laid. The higher building in the right remains close to Balmoral Road.

The photograph says Jura Grove Playground although the playground will have been at the far end of  the Grove in an area now grassed.
