Hutton Avenue is a road of mainly Victorian properties with a wide and interesting range of architecture. Many are now divided into flats and some are nursing homes.
Hutton Avenue
Donated by Douglas FerridayThis imposing house in Hutton Avenue is number 24 today, looks much the same and is divided into flats. At the time of the photo, it obviously had a tennis court and where this once was, is Hutton Court which looks to have been built in the 1980s. It is very unlikely that the tennis court survived until that date. The photograph perhaps was taken in the late 1920s- 1930s ? The home was called Lyndenhurst and was owned by Mr Tweddle , manager of the Coop.
Grange Road Methodist Church can be seen in the background.
