Philip Hunter Sanderson is on this image.

Taken in December 1940, Arthur Sanderson is the man on the far right standing. Arthur was 6' 4'' and was Gladys Harris' brother. He had been a village policeman and a railway labourer.

Sadly he took his own life in 1966.

Arthur is third from left and this is probably in the early 1930s. Arthur had been a policeman but resigned and became a railway labourer.

He was sent to Italy in World War 2 but was badly wounded and returned to working on the railway.

From left are Gladys Harris, her aunt Emma Longmire, nee Sanderson,her uncle(?) Edward Rodmell and her mother Lilian Harland, nee Sanderson. The little boy is David Harris born 1952.

Edward Rodmell  was born in 1887 and died in 1963 and was sextant at Spion Kop Cemetery.

Location in Hartlepool unknown but taken in World War 2.

On the photo third from right on top row is Tommy Harland 1904-81 who was Gladys Harland's father. Tommy had lost a leg in a motorcycle accident on the Tees Road in October 1924.

On the Fish Sands L-R are Lizzie Harland(Gladys' auntie), Gladys Harland as a girl, her mother Lilian, nee Sanderson and looking more dressed for church than a day at the beach is Gladys'  Gran, Margaret Sanderson ,nee Rodmell.

Gladys was born in 1930 in the Headland area to a family who just managed to make ends meet. She remembered always having enough to eat and shoes to wear but remembers those who didn't .

The photo was taken at WH Sykes York Road West Hartlepool and is of John Rodmell, the brother of Margaret Sanderson.

He was Private 43138 in the Durham Light Infantry and was killed in action at 18 years just after the photo was taken on 23.3.1918.

He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Pas de Calais.

Taken in Hartlepool in the mid 1920s, Thomas Harland is on the photo and is probably second from right.

Albert Harris and his wife Gladys spent months apart in the early years of their marriage as Albert was an engineer on British Tankers. At times, wives could join their husbands on board ship and this photo was taken on British Soldier in 1956 at the Isle of Grain in the Thames. Gladys and Albert are the couple on the right.

Taken in 1918, Sanderson was in 219 Battery Medium Brigade.

Philip was born in 1877 and died in 1935. He married Margaret Rodwell and they were the parents of Lilian Sanderson who married Thomas Harland. THey in turn were the parents of Gladys Harris nee Harland.

Gladys met her future husband Albert Harris on this trip.

On the photo are Lilian Sanderson, born 1910 who was the mother of Gladys Harland, her sister Emma Sanderson,born 1904 and brother Arthur born 1908. Their parents grandad Philip Hunter Sanderson was born in 1877 and died in 1935. Gladys just remembered his funeral and completing the group is Grandma Sanderson who was also born in 1877 and died in 1961.

The family lived in a downstairs part of a house in Alliance Street. The photo will have been taken about 1916 and Arthur Sanderson is in uniform
