School Health Service

Details about School Health Service

Children in the town routinely had visits from the school dental service, the 'nitty' nurse (head lice) and, at various stages throughout school, were given full medicals. From 1915 there was a school clinic in Stranton, close to where McDonald's now stands. This then moved to Park Road, close to where the One Life is now and, in 1966, to purpose built premises in Caroline Street. This is also now demolished.
