Large area of land in Victoria Road which the Civic Centre was built on. It was the site of a nursery school and then a car park for Middleton Grange Shopping Centre before the Civic Centre was built in the early 1970s.
A view of the Bull Field, which is now the site of the Civic Centre. The first phase in the foreground was just being built. The Grand Hotel can be clearly seen, with the tower of Christ Church in the background.

In front of the crowd on the bullfield, are the huts which were used for a nursery. The large building behind that to the left is the Boys' Technical High School and the one to the right is the Town Hall.
Does anybody know the event ?
