The club was formed in 1855 and played at various venues, possibly the first near Lynn Street in 1856, followed by a site on the West Hall Estate where the Burn Valley now stands around 1879. Around the 1880s, the club played at Foggy Furze for a short time and then at Clarence Road for about 30 years before moving to Park Drive in August 1913.
