				The ' A' streets were built in the mid 1850s as West Hartlepool quickly grew. They ran east from Stockton Street to the south of Upper Church St and in order from Church St were : Anson. Archer, Albert, Alfred, Albion, Arthur, Anthony and Andrew Streets. They varied in length and the College of Further Education was built on the site of the streets by the mid 1960s.

																Donated by Hartlepool Museum ServiceIn accordance with the Max Lock plan, the 'A' streets were to be demolished. This 1953 article states that they would all have been demolished by 1959 although it did take slightly longer.
