The shop belongs to W.J. Clyburn a Commission Agent. Like many of the buildings in Middleton Road, tis was of three stories.

Dated 1960, the image is of an unnamed general dealer in Middleton Road. Adverts in the windows are for various tobacco products, Saxa salt,Fyffes bananas and Bird's Eye frozen foods which would have beenfairly new at the time. A large poster on the wall advertises Cherry Blossom polish.

Swedish Church, Middleton Road. The Swedish or Scandanavian church was on the corner of Middleton Road and Clarence Road and opened in 1884. In 1954, the congregation moved to Middlesbrough.
