On a voyage from Algiers to Marseille Saint Prosper was not heard from after 8 March 1939. 27 crewmen were lost. Master Jules Langlois.

Saint Prosper left Algiers on 6 March 1939 on a voyage for Marseille with 27 persons aboard & was in wireless communication with the owners on 8 March 1939 before disappearing. It was to be many years before the fate of the vessel was to become known. It was discovered that the master had tried to take shelter from a storm in Roses Bay, Spain & the vessel struck a mine laid by the rebublican troops to protect their coast. All 27 lives lost.
