On a voyage from San Francisco for Kobe with a cargo of barley & ground bark Stanley Dollar was ashore at Katsuura on 6 September 1905. She was got off but was leaky & became a wreck. Master J.G. Bruce.

When owned by the US Army she was used as a hospital transport ship & then became a regular transport ship for the US Army Transportation Corps. When under the ownership of the Dollar SS Co she was used as a freighter on the San Francisco to China run.
On 5 April 1889 on a voyage from London to Philadelphia she tried to tow the stricken ship Danmark but it was sinking. Some of the cargo of the Missouri was jettisoned to make room for 735 people. The master received an award for his endeavours.
