Theofano - LaunchDOCKYARD LAUNCH 
NAMING CEREMONY OF THE s. s. THEOFANO.

On Friday, Messrs. Wm Gray and Co., Ltd., launched from their dockyard, the steel screw steamer 
Theofano, which is being built to the order of Messrs. Michael and John Livanos, Chios. 
The vessel which is of the open shelter deck type, will take the highest class in Lloyd’s Register, and is of the following dimensions: length over all, 405ft.; breadth, 54ft. 2 ½ ins.; and depth moulded to upper deck, 27ft. 6 ½ in. 
Spacious accommodation for the officers is arranged in a steel house amidships. The engineers are 
berthed in steel houses alongside casing with the necessary mess room and lavatory accommodation. Large airy accommodation is arranged in the poop for the crew, including separate dining rooms. 
The vessel will be completed in all respects as a first-class cargo steamer, her equipment including 
wireless installation and electric light. 
                                           THE CHRISTENING 
Triple-expansion engines having cylinders 26 in., 43 in., and 71 inches diameter by 48 in. stroke, with 
three boilers working at a pressure of 180lbs. per square inch will be supplied by the Central Marine Engineering Works of the builders. 
The ship and machinery are being built under the supervision of Mr. W. L. Fergusson, and the ceremony of naming the steamer was gracefully performed by Mrs. Michael Livanos. 
The owners were represented by Mr. Michael Livanos, Mr. John Livanos, Stavros Livanos, Mr George 
Livanos, Mr. Michael Livanos junr. Mr. Ernest Cook, and Mr W. L. Fergusson. The builders were represented by Sir Wm Gray, Bart, (Chairman), Messrs. A. McGlashan, and T. McCarthey (directors), Mr. T. S. Simpson (General manager), and Mr. J. Young (yard manager). Lloyd’s Register of Shipping were represented by Messers. R. J. Macintosh and L. Storey.
