SUICIDE FROM WEST HARTLEPOOL STEAMER. Baltimore, U.S.A., April 2. C. Avery, a fireman on the West Hartlepool steamer Leven, Captain Stiles, which arrived yesterday from Genoa, committed suicide at sea on March 16. Avery had been ill for several days. While talking with the steward he suddenly made a dash for the rail and leaped into the sea. Notwithstanding every effort to save him, Avery was drowned. He had been shipped at Cardiff, but his home was in Bristol.
