On a voyage from Hamburg for Bristol City of Dublin was sunk in a collision with the Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm of Breman near the Elbe No. 4 Light Vessel on 4 February 1881. The second engineer, two firemen & two seamen were drowned. At an inquiry held at the Maritime Court at Hamburg the master of the German steamer was held totally responsible. Master - J. Walsh.
