Voyages: 1870 Columbo for Isle of Wight (110 day passage): 1870 Tyne for Aden (115 day passage): On 23 May 1871 shewas moored in Howdon Dock ready to sail for Point de Galle with 551 tons of coal when she was struck by the Liverpool iron ship Monmouthshire. Peru had her fore-mast & bowsprit carried away in the collision. After repairs she eventually left Howdon Dock but on 10 June stranded on the Cockle Sand. She was re-floated at flood tide, &, with the aid of some boatmen reached Yarmouth Roads; 1871-73 Shields for Ceylon.
Bound from London for the Tyne in ballast Peru encountered severe weather & was driven ashore & wrecked off Cromer on 14 April 1876. Her crew of 14 were saved.
